Silica Exposure

Silicosis is a condition that can occur with long-term
exposure to silica dust. Crystalline silica causes scar
tissue to form in the lungs, which inhibits the amount
of oxygen that can be taken into the body. In some cases,
silicosis proves fatal. Those most likely to develop
silicosis are people who have worked in an environment
where silica dust is prevalent, including sand blasters,
foundry workers, and other workers. Aside from silicosis,
exposure to silica may cause bronchitis, tuberculosis,
